This guide describes LAW119’s current workflow. Screen labels and features may be updated. When a screen differs from this guide, follow the current on-screen instructions or contact LAW119 Help.

1. Founding Attorney access

Founding Attorneys can prepare before live client posting begins without consuming their trial.

  1. 1Create and verify your profile during the founding-attorney preparation period.
  2. 2Free prelaunch access continues while live client posting remains closed.
  3. 3For registered Founding Attorneys, the separate 90-day trial begins when LAW119 first activates live client posting—not when registration is completed.
  4. 4No credit card is required for registration or founding prelaunch access.
  5. 5Registration and trial access do not automatically create a paid subscription.

Your choice after or during the trial

Continue with paid access only if you affirmatively choose a monthly or annual plan and complete checkout.

2. Registration and account security

Attorney accounts require professional identity information and stronger account protection.

  1. 1Choose Attorney and create the account with an email you control. A firm-domain email is preferred but not required.
  2. 2If you received a founding-attorney invitation, using that invitation email helps LAW119 recognize your registration and stop further recruitment messages. A different email does not prevent registration, but LAW119 may need to match the records manually.
  3. 3Review the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Attorney Terms before accepting them.
  4. 4Confirm your email when requested and complete the short registration. Enroll an authenticator app before entering the protected attorney workspace.
  5. 5Keep authentication recovery information secure and never share passwords or verification codes with staff or colleagues.
  6. 6Each attorney should use an individually controlled account; do not share one login across a firm.

Email verification

Gmail, Outlook, iCloud, and similar addresses are accepted. A non-firm email may lead LAW119 to request an additional ownership check during human review.

3. Complete your profile and coverage

Accurate practice, location, and language information supports neutral matter eligibility and verification.

  1. 1Start with your name, contact email, primary licensing jurisdiction, and license number. LAW119 selects the applicable official public source automatically.
  2. 2Select only practice areas you actually handle and jurisdictions where you are authorized and available.
  3. 3Use statewide coverage when appropriate; enter a ZIP only when intentionally narrowing service coverage.
  4. 4Firm details, business address, additional licenses, languages, and the professional bio are optional during initial registration and can be completed later.
  5. 5When you respond to a matter, the client may see your professional name, firm, office city and state, New York registration information, LAW119 verification date, and official public-record link before deciding whether to select you.
  6. 6Progress saves automatically. Use Save progress whenever you want confirmation before signing out and returning later.

No paid visibility

LAW119 does not sell higher ranking or priority display. Practice-area, jurisdiction, licensing, and other neutral eligibility criteria determine which matters are available; optional profile details do not buy or create priority.

4. Submit and track verification

Verification supports platform eligibility; it is not a LAW119 endorsement or guarantee of competence.

  1. 1Submit the required registration details and accuracy confirmation, then open Verification to monitor status. Optional profile information can still be added later.
  2. 2LAW119 may compare submitted licensing and professional information with authoritative public sources.
  3. 3If more information is requested, follow the status-page instructions and submit only the requested material through the approved workflow.
  4. 4Material profile changes after approval can trigger re-verification and temporary access limits.
  5. 5Keep license, contact, practice, geography, language, and professional-link information current.

5. Review available matters

Respond only when the matter fits your authorization, competence, capacity, and professional judgment.

  1. 1Open Available Cases and use filters for category, location, urgency, language, fee mode, or other displayed criteria.
  2. 2Review the privacy-protected summary, requested scope, timing, budget information, and response deadline.
  3. 3A translated summary appears only when the client opted into machine translation. Treat it as a convenience, compare it with the original summary, and confirm important language with a qualified person; attorney proposals and chat are not automatically translated.
  4. 4Confirm that you are authorized and competent for the matter before responding.
  5. 5Acknowledge language-support requirements when the client’s preferred language is not listed on your profile.
  6. 6Availability does not mean endorsement, exclusivity, priority, or a promise that the client will select you.

Pre-contact privacy boundary

Do not request or attempt to obtain the client’s direct identity, phone, email, or off-platform meeting link before the required confirmation step.

6. Prepare and send a response

The first response should help the client decide whether to open a conversation—not pressure the client.

  1. 1Address the facts and requested help using only the information available in the protected summary.
  2. 2Explain relevant practice, experience, jurisdictions, languages, availability, and the next step without guaranteeing results.
  3. 3Add a preliminary fee structure, estimate, service scope, timing, or consultation availability only when appropriate and accurate.
  4. 4Keep phone numbers, email addresses, and meeting links out of pre-confirmation responses.
  5. 5Review the certification, send or update the response, and withdraw it if it is no longer accurate or available.
  6. 6If the client materially revises the matter, review the new revision before relying on or updating your response. Version history preserves the earlier response record.

Professional communication

Avoid unsupported comparisons, urgency tactics, promises, or statements suggesting that LAW119 recommends you.

7. Selection, consultation, and representation

Client selection opens communication; each later step has a separate purpose.

  1. 1When a client selects your response, open the conversation and clarify facts, scope, availability, language support, and fee method.
  2. 2Use Consultation scheduling to propose up to five times or confirm one proposed by the client. Verify the displayed timezone; the other participant must select a proposed time before it is confirmed.
  3. 3A confirmed consultation includes an .ics calendar download and reminders. Either side may propose a replacement without silently canceling the current time, or cancel with a reason.
  4. 4The client must use the separate encrypted conflict-check form before either side can confirm. Review only the disclosed client legal name, adverse parties, and related entities reasonably provided there; never ask the client to place them in ordinary chat.
  5. 5Complete your actual conflict check and affirm it in LAW119 before confirming. Do not copy the protected disclosure into chat, notes, or outreach records, and request any additional sensitive facts directly through a professionally appropriate secure channel.
  6. 6Confirm your consultation side only when prepared to proceed; direct contact and limited document tools unlock after both sides confirm.
  7. 7Consultation confirmation is not formal representation. Resolve conflicts, final scope, fees, and terms before signing an engagement agreement.
  8. 8You must supply and control any engagement agreement. LAW119 does not draft, review, approve, or recommend the agreement or its terms.
  9. 9You may route your own agreement through LAW119's optional e-signature workflow or upload a copy signed outside the platform. Give the client a copy and retain your own complete records.
  10. 10Service stages are nonfinancial workflow labels only. They are not invoices, payment milestones, escrow records, or billing records.
  11. 11You may decline a pending consultation request. Either side may end an active LAW119 workflow with a reason; that platform action does not determine rights under a separate attorney-client agreement.
  12. 12After mutual consultation confirmation, supply any Zoom, Webex, Teams, phone, or office details. LAW119 does not host or record third-party calls; anyone recording is responsible for required consent.

Attorney-client financial relationship

Legal fees, retainers, trust funds, expenses, invoices, and refunds always remain directly between attorney and client outside LAW119. LAW119 does not collect or distribute them.

8. Subscription, notifications, Help, and account management

Use the attorney workspace to keep access, alerts, billing choices, and support requests current.

  1. 1Dashboard shows verification, available matters, responses, messages, and actions needing attention.
  2. 2Use Notification Preferences to choose relevant matter and workflow alerts, including practice area, location, and language coverage. Mobile push is optional and can also be disabled in device settings.
  3. 3Use Matter Availability to stop new-matter alerts, pause them through a selected date, or set a daily new-matter email limit. These controls do not hide your verified profile or prevent you from browsing Available Cases.
  4. 4After the applicable trial, paid platform access starts only if you select a plan and complete checkout. Review the current price and renewal terms before purchase.
  5. 5Use Help for account, verification, technical, billing, or workflow questions, and use Issue Reports for interactions requiring platform review.
  6. 6Account deletion removes active access and the active profile immediately and opens a verified privacy review. Use the public Privacy Request Center for access, export, correction, or deletion requests, including when you cannot sign in.
  7. 7If limited information must be retained for a specific legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, backup, or audit reason, LAW119 records the category, reason, and next review date.

No referral or outcome-based fees

LAW119 charges only for optional attorney platform access. It does not charge referral fees, success fees, commissions, pay-per-lead fees, pay-to-contact fees, or paid-ranking fees.
